Accessible Bathroom Upgrades

We not only focus on upgrading your bathrooms but also creating an accessible bathroom that meets everyone’s needs.

Accessible Bathroom Upgrades

Let us help you transform your bathroom into a safe and comfortable space.

People who find themselves with the need to upgrade their existing bathrooms to accommodate someone with mobility issues can get overwhelmed by the situation, especially when they need to make the entire home more accessible in a short amount of time.

There are a couple of things that we do in these situations to ensure that we’re able to account for each little situation. We like to make sure we leave no stone unturned.

These upgrades are not just about widening showers and adding handlebars to them. Here are a couple of key elements when it comes to accessible bathroom upgrades.

How Our Renovators Can Help

We understand that every situation is unique and thus requires a unique approach.

Our team has the expertise and knowledge to handle all aspects of making your bathroom fully accessible. From widening the pathway to the bathroom, adjusting floor surfaces to reduce slippage, or remodeling showers and fixtures for a seamless design, we handle it all.

Making Sure the Access to the Bathroom Area is Adequate

This is a very important element that we don’t want to overlook. Some contractors that specialize in bathroom renovations may not be willing to work on elements outside the bathroom. That’s not going to be the case with us. We understand, especially in these situations, that at least the route to the bathroom needs to be fully accessible. If you hire another contractor to help you with the rest of the house, that’s another story. We could actually help in certain situations outside the bathroom. As mentioned, it’s super important for us to create an accessible route.

Floors May Need to be Changed

Keeping the same floors in some of these bathrooms can be a big mistake. That’s the case if you want the area to be wheelchair accessible or just wider to have people come in with a great sense of ease. Regardless of the situation, it’s very important to ensure that the floors are not slippery. Slippery floors can be the leading cause of a ton of accidents. If we can avoid these just by changing the floors, that’s going to be our suggestion.

Adjusting Shower Sizes & Adding Support Areas

You may need to adjust the size of the shower, not just add certain support areas. There are different ways that we’ll be able to get that done. A lot of people want to know if we have to completely tear up their existing shower setup to be able to expand it or add anything new. That’s not necessarily the case in some situations; we can take advantage of what’s already there, particularly if there’s a tile wall that covers part of the shower. We won’t have to remove that. We can obviously extend the other side of the shower, not the part that’s already up against the wall.

Removing or Installing Other Fixtures

We just mentioned that we don’t need to tear everything apart to be able to redesign bathrooms to make them more accessible. There are instances when it just makes sense to remove existing fixtures and replace them with new ones. For example, if you have a tub that doubles down as a shower but it’s extremely slippery it may be best to remove it. We could add a new tub with easier access that will allow you to enjoy the experience without putting yourself or anyone else at risk of injury.
